This is, clearly, just a list of retroclones. It's not like the (somewhat out-dated) list of retroclones on the Taxidermic Owlbear, in that it is a comprehensive list of games. It is, rather a list of my own preferred retroclones. These aren't including, of course, games like The Black Hack, Knave, or the Goblin Laws of Gaming, since those are all hacks or mini-systems.
Original Dungeons & Dragons
OD&D: Swords & Wizardry White Box or S&W Core
OD&D + Supplements: Swords & Wizardry Complete
Advanced Dungeions & Dragons
AD&D 1e (1977-1979): OSRIC (or Advanced Edition Companion of Labyrinth Lord)
Unearthed Arcana (1985): NO. But if yes, OSRIC Unearthed. Taxidermic Owlbear also has some of the classes for OSRIC that were published in both Unearthed Arcana and Dragon Magazine.
AD&D 2e (1989): For Gold & Glory
Basic+ Iterations
Holmes Basic (1977): There are many.
Moldvay-Cook or B/X (1981): Labyrinth Lord! Lamentations of the Flame Princess! Basic Fantasy RPG!
Mentzer or BECMI (1983): Dark Dungeons... (the rules from Immortals are based on the Wrath of the Immortals supplement for the Rules Cyclopedia,)
Rules Cyclopedia (1991): Dark Dungeons
RPG Thoughts & Resources from the OSR to GURPS (I should've called this blog "The Gith Yankee")
